Get to Know Us
We're a network of people around the country and around the world who are passionate about removing lead from the environment. We do this through outreach, education and advocacy. We encourage everyone to learn about GoLeadFree concerns involving lead toxicity and poisoning, and to use our collective voice to advance the goal of reducing lead in the environment.
You can find our presence on Facebook, Instagram, this website, and whereever there are discussions about lead in the envronment or lead toxicity affecting people or wildlife.
Our Mission
What's the GoLeadFree.org mission? Our mission is to reduce the amount of lead in the environment, because it is poisoning wildlife and people. It's that simple, and it is really important! Lead poisoning causes permanent neurological damage in adults, kids and wildlife. And most important, it's preventable!
GoLeadFree.org works on this mission through research, education and advocacy. Note that GoLeadFree does not advocate for legislative lead ammo bans! We would much prefer that parties meet and negotiate agreements and develop plans that address the concerns and needs of all stakeholders. We are all in this together!

Mark Wagner
Go Lead Free Founder & President
Mark Wagner founded GoLeadFree.org after he learned that lead was the major cause of mortality of the highly endangered California Condor, as well as poisoning in eagles and other raptors who eat the carcasses or gut piles of animals killed with lead bullets. Unbeknownst to many hunters, they and their families are also at risk of lead poisoning from the finely dispersed lead in the meat of game killed with lead ammo. Alternatives to lead ammo already exist! All of us need to be involved as stakeholders to help remove lead from the environment wherever it exists. Through education and advocacy, our voice can make a difference!
